  • Frequently Asked Questions

    • What is a Catholic pilgrimage?
      • A pilgrimage is a religious journey to places of religious significance, such as shrines, basilicas, cathedrals, holy sites, and destinations associated with saints or important events in Catholic history.

The purpose of a Catholic pilgrimage varies from person to person but typically includes deepening one's faith, seeking spiritual renewal, expressing devotion to saints, seeking healing or miracles, or fulfilling religious obligations. Pilgrimages are seen as an opportunity for Catholics to encounter God, grow in their relationship with Christ, and experience the communal aspect of their faith.

During Catholic pilgrimages, participants often engage in prayer, attend Mass, participate in processions, recite the rosary, and seek the sacraments, such as reconciliation and the Eucharist. The journey itself, along with the rituals and acts of devotion performed at the pilgrimage site, is considered a sacred and transformative experience for Catholic pilgrims.

    • Is it safe to travel abroad?
      • Safety is our #1 priority. Our local staff is fully up-to-date on all current worldwide events. We are fully prepared to re-route the daily itinerary schedule on the rare occasion it becomes necessary. We follow the U.S. Department of Safety protocol for all travels outside the U.S.

    • Are there any age requirements for joining the tours?
      • Everyone must be 18 or older unless they are accompanied by a guardian.

    • Is this a guided tour?
      • Yes, we have professional, experienced and knowledgeable English-speaking Catholic tour guides who will meet us at the airport and guide us on all tours. If free time allows, you will be able to explore the city on your own.

    • From which cities do you offer departures for your flights?
      • Departures are from the airports closest to the parish leading the pilgrimage.

    • What are the hotel accommodations?
      • Hotel accommodations are 4 star hotels rated by the standard of the country (unless stated otherwise). The price includes double occupancy. An option for a private room is available for an additional cost.

    • Will Mass be offered while I am on the pilgrimage?
      • Yes, daily Mass will be offered.

    • What is the price of a single supplement (private room)?
      • A single supplement (private room) starts at $895.

    • Can three people share a room?
      • Most hotels will accommodate triple occupancy requests. These requests provide no increase or reduction in cost to travelers. Most hotels aren't set up with three twin beds. In a triple occupancy room, the third bed is usually a sofa, sofa bed or fold-up bed. Due to the pace of pilgrimages, we do not recommend triple rooms. Triple occupancy rooms have very limited living space and are challenging to manage with three people and their belongings.

    • What level of physical ability is recommended to take part in your pilgrimage?
      • There is a lot of walking involved; travelers need to be able to walk at least 4 - 5 miles over the course of a day and 1 mile at any one time. Please note that during certain times, it is possible to encounter small and densely crowded spaces. Standing in lines for a long period of time can also occur.

Kindly contact us to learn more about the physical requirements for specific pilgrimage destinations. Our team will be delighted to provide detailed information about your chosen destination.

    • What about disabled travelers?
      • Our journey will involve transportation by tour bus to various sites; however, it's important to note that significant walking will be required, encompassing hilly terrain and staircases on certain trips. Therefore, participants should be in good health and physical condition. Those needing special assistance must be accompanied by a responsible companion who can provide the necessary support.

Kindly contact us to learn more about the physical requirements for specific pilgrimage destinations. Our team will be delighted to provide detailed information tailored to your chosen destination.

    • Will I need to know the local language?
      • English is widely spoken at our destination sites, and you will be pleasantly surprised by the many individuals you can converse with.

    • Are toiletries provided at hotels?
      • Most hotels provide the following: body wash and shampoo. Conditioner for hair and washcloths are not provided in the Holy Land and Europe.

    • Do I need a VISA?
      • If you have a U.S Passport, no visa is required. However, your passport must be valid for at least six (6) months after the return date of the trip. If you are not a U.S citizen, please contact us to learn more about VISA requirements.

    • What is covered in the cost of a pilgrimage?
      • For priests or deacons, kindly contact us to receive information on our incentive program.

For pilgrims, please navigate to the "Upcoming Pilgrimages" tab to locate your specific priest’s pilgrimage. Here, you will discover detailed information pertaining to the pilgrimage cost, inclusive offerings and further specifics on the trip.

    • Is there anything I am responsible for?
      • We highly encourage you to purchase travel insurance. Lunch (unless stated otherwise on the itinerary), snacks, water, and any personal shopping expenses, including items you wish to purchase on your own.

    • How much money do you recommend I bring?
      • We recommend each traveler bring $500 - $1000 cash. Please bring cash in small denominations for lunch, public bathrooms, small gifts, donations at churches and monasteries, etc.  Lunches average $20-$30/person per day.

    • Do I convert my money in the U.S. or upon arrival in country of destination?
      • It is generally more convenient to convert your currency upon arrival in the country of your destination. This allows you to obtain the local currency at a more favorable exchange rate and ensures that you have the appropriate currency for your immediate needs.

Airport exchange counters or local banks in your destination country are common places to exchange your currency. They often offer competitive rates and convenient services. However, it's a good idea to compare rates and fees at different exchange services to ensure you're getting the best deal.

While converting currency in your home country before traveling is an option, it may not always be the most cost-effective choice. Exchange rates and fees can vary, and you may incur additional charges for the conversion. It's advisable to check with your local bank or exchange service to understand their rates and fees beforehand.

Remember that it's always beneficial to have some local currency on hand for small purchases or situations where card payments may not be accepted.

Ultimately, the decision of when and where to convert your currency depends on various factors, including exchange rates, fees, convenience, and personal preferences. It's a good idea to research the options available to you and make an informed decision based on your specific travel circumstances.

    • Which currency is utilized in the destinations you visit?
      • It depends on the country. For a list of currency by territory, click here.

    • Can I use my credit card when traveling abroad?
      • Credit cards are widely accepted for payment in many countries around the world. When traveling abroad, it is a convenient and secure option to carry and use your credit card for various transactions such as shopping, dining, accommodations and more.

However, it's important to keep a few things in mind:

        1. Check for international acceptance: Before traveling, ensure that your credit card is accepted internationally. Most major credit card brands like Visa, Mastercard, and American Express are widely accepted worldwide.

        2. Notify your credit card provider: Notify your credit card provider about your travel plans, including the countries you'll be visiting and the dates of your trip. This helps them monitor and protect your account from any suspicious transactions while you're away.

        3. Currency conversion and fees: When using your credit card abroad, transactions are typically processed in the local currency. Your credit card provider will convert the amount to your home currency based on the prevailing exchange rate. Be aware that some credit cards may charge a foreign transaction fee, so it's advisable to check with your provider regarding any applicable fees.

        4. Keep your credit card secure: Take necessary precautions to keep your credit card secure while traveling. Keep it in a safe place, use it only at trusted establishments, and avoid sharing your card details with unknown or unsecured sources.

Remember to carry local currency for establishments that may not accept credit cards or in case of any unforeseen circumstances. It's always wise to have multiple payment options available while traveling.

    • Is gratuity included in the price?
      • All gratuities have been included in your package price. Should service exceed your expectations, additional tips are always appreciated! Please keep in mind that Trinity Tour Travels's mission is to support persecuted Christians in the Holy Land, and your additional tipping would contribute to this cause. Our guides, drivers and staff are amazing and certainly go out of their way to make our pilgrims feel safe, well-cared for and special!

    • I have more questions that are not included in the FAQ.
